Primavika is a family company which started its activity in 1998, but its idea was born about 20 years earlier. For us, it was a very important time: it gave us the opportunity to find out the needs and expectations of our consumers, which means ourselves, as well.
The first step to healthy eating
It all began in the early 1970s. Those days, vegetarianism was an unspoken issue in Poland, and those who gave up eating meat were often doomed to a monotonous and quite poor diet. Paweł Skrzypczak, the current President of Primavika, who, in his teenage years, decided to become a vegetarian, experienced it himself. Initially, as was the case of other vegetarians at the time, his diet consisted of sandwiches, alternatively with cheese, cottage cheese, jam and eggs. At some point, however, he felt that it was not enough and began to broaden his knowledge about healthy lifestyle and nutrition, look for new flavours and ideas for vegetarian dishes that would be delicious at the same time. He shared his recipes and inspirations with others, co-organizing educational programs and healthy cooking schools.
From year to year, the demand for products, not only for vegetarians, but also for vegans, diabetics, allergy sufferers and gluten-free dieters grew. Since 1991, for those who lived in and around Poznań, composing a daily diet has become easier: it was when the main shareholder of Primavika, Paweł Skrzypczak’s brother, Roman, launched one of the first Polish wholesale stores with health food in the capital of Wielkopolska region.
From family dinners to creating trends
In our domestic market, there were more and more vegetarian and vegan products, but many types of goods were still missing. That’s why a few years later, in 1998, Paweł Skrzypczak, together with his father, Jerzy, his brothers, Roman and Marek, and a friend Krzysztof, started their production – and that is how Primavika was born. They began with dinner dishes, which were prepared according to home-made recipes refined over the years; then they launched a production of pâtés and nut butters. The offer has been gradually growing and expanding until today – all that to provide vegetarians and vegans, as well as people who simply value healthy eating, with a wide offer, which our founders did not have at the beginning of their adventure with vegetarian diet.
A few years after founding of Primavika, we could say that we were ahead of the trends in production of healthy food. Today, thanks to our passion and experience, we create them.
